Anne Hughes’ Diary
first appeared as a magazine serial in 1937.
It has since been published many times,
most often as ‘The Diary of a Farmer’s Wife 1796-1797’.
But - without the original 18th-century manuscript as provenance,
the book's authenticity is uncertain.
Who was Anne Hughes?
Did she really exist?
And is her diary genuine?
The Anne Hughes Research Team has amassed copious information to help unravel this mystery.
